Science - Elements

Elements:
Elements are the basic chemichals of the universe. Each elementis made from only 1 kind of atom, with a certain number of sub-atomic particles & it's own unique character. Now, more than 115 have so far been identified. Each element is listed in a perioic table. At least 20 of the most recently discovered elements were created by scientists & do not exist naturally. All the most recently discovered contain very large, heavy atoms. Very few elements occur naturally by themselves. Most occur in a combination with others in compounds. Gold is one of the few elements found as a pure 'native' element.

Gemstones & Jewels

Gemstones & Jewels:
At the National Taiwan Museum, I learnt about Gemstones & Jewels. If you were to identify them, they would have to be:
1.EXTREMELY HARD
2.RARE
3.SHINY
4.BEAUTIFUL
Where are jewels found the most?
They are found mostly in South Africa.
Rubies: Burma
Sapphires: Australia
Emeralds: Columbia

Some countries use jewels to represent them, like:

ENGLAND:Diamond
GREECE:Sapphire
JAPAN: Crystal
FRANCE: Pearl
TAIWAN: Unknown?

Everybody has their own type of jewel that represents them according to their birthday. My jewel is the Diamond. Diamonds mean innocent & pure .

I think jewels are interesting & are extremely rare stones.
